Description
Sphygmomanometer, also called as blood pressure monitor, or blood pressure gauge, is a device used to measure blood pressure. Sphygmomanometer consists of several parts including bladder, cuff, manometer and valve. Bladder is an inflatable bag that is used for compressing the arm to ensure full arterial compression, so the bladders must have specific sizing parameters. Cuff is designed to hold the bladder around the arm during the measurement. It must be designed properly with respect to placement and the position for accurate measurement. Manometer, used in an aneroid sphygmomanometer, is a device used to measure the air pressure. Valve is used as a deflation valve to control the cuff and it plays a important role in getting an accurate measurement.
